Where to Eat: Cassis 2019

Cafe scene in Cassis France

We often travel to destinations for their food and we are often asked by our guests at Chalet Cannelle for recommendations on places to eat.

Our Where to Eat series includes our top picks of road side stalls to Michelin star spots of luxury and everything in between.

Where is Cassis?

Cassis (don’t pronounce the ‘S’) is a pretty seaside town on the French Riviera but a world away from the likes of St Tropez and Cannes. The surrounding hills covered by the vineyards of the AOP Cassis have protected the town from over development and the small streets are packed with restaurants, wine bars and boutique shops. The stunning Calanques National park starts at Cassis and continues along the Mediterranean coastline to Marseille with stunning cliff top walks leading to tiny pristine beaches.

Cassis Restaurants

Le Chaudron – perfect little neo-bistro tucked down a small street, fantastic Plat du Jour on offer. You will need to reserve.

D’une Rive a l’Autre – Lebanese food, all homemade, beautiful fish and lamb dishes.

Les Belles Canailles – Restaurant in the 5 star hotel, Les Belles Roches. Upmarket restaurant with the most stunning setting overlooking the ocean and the Cap Canailles. Beautifully presented clever dishes, we particularly loved the rouget et Poulpe de Méditerranée, a modern take on the flavours of the bouillabaisse. Make sure you go for a pre-dinner aperitif at the bar

Cassis Bars

Le Chai Cassidain – the perfect wine bar serving mostly local wines from Cassis and the surrounding area. You can also buy to takeaway at good prices.
